The Artist for Tsunami auction held on the 20 of October at Webbs auction house raised a total of $86,000 to put towards relief and rebuilding efforts in Samoa and Tonga.

There were 85 pieces of art auctioned on the night which came from all over New Zealand. The generosity from the artist community was overwhelming.

Many thanks go to great partners who willingly supported us - Webb's, Villa Maria, Cooper's, Carlton Hire,  PHREON, Geon, Whitespace and the many volunteers, too many to name but without whom nothing would have been possible, to all who donated work and to those who generously brought their wallets $$$.

The organising group have decided to put the money into an interest bearing account and to wait until after Christmas by which time it will be clearer about how governmental and international aid project funding has been used and then identify possible gaps in funding.

We are delighted that Tautai was able to provide support and infrastructure to see this project through and we were also reminded of the power and strength that artist have as a collective voice.
