  • Tautai Celebrate | Urbanesia Festival 2016

    Tautai will host a series of events for Auckland Council’s 2016 Urbanesia Festival called TAUTAI | CELEBRATE. The events take place 18 – 20 November and are part of Tautai’s 30 year anniversary activities this year marking three decades dedicated to the development and support of Pacific arts and artists.

     

     

    TAUTAI | CELEBRATE connects with Urbanesia to showcase a programme of events over three days curated by Rosanna Raymond.

     

     

    The TAUTAI | CELEBRATE Fia Fia Night – Galatos

    Live art entertainment will feature throughout the night, featuring:  Karanga Ink, FAFSWAG, Pacific Dance NZ and local K Rd DJ Tito from Rebel Soul Records.

    The TAUTAI | CELEBRATE Fia Fia Night will providing a taster of Tautai’s Urbanesia programme – showcasing and celebrating contemporary Pacific art  – with Pacific culture, food, and live art entertainment.

    TAUTAI Art Emporium – Ponsonby Central

    Tautai Art Emporium presents a cross-section of artists whose work reflects Pacific Arts in Aotearoa. Art will be exhibited and available for sale, with live demonstrations from leading Pacific art practitioners giving an insight into the creation of works. TAUTAI Art Emporium will be full of Pacific flavour, provide access outside the traditional gallery setting and allow people a unique chance to meet and purchase directly from the artists. Tautai Art Emporium will feature artists Ani O’Neill, Niki Hastings-McFall, Numa Mackenzie , Chris Van Doren, Lonnie Hutchinson, Ioane Ioane and The Pacifica Mamas from the Corban’s Estate Art Centre and many more.

    SaVAge K’lub CraftyNOON Tea – Ponsonby Community Centre, 20 Ponsonby Terrace, Auckland

    CraftyNOON Tea is hosted by SaVAge K’Lub in a family friendly community venue and provides the chance to share in an afternoon of craft making, tea and scones. The gathering is a chance to share techniques, learn new skills and create and make your own regalia. Materials will be provided but guests are welcome to bring their own items too. As well as enjoying a variety of artful and literary entertainment, guests can make a star to contribute to Maryann Pau Talia’s One million Stars Against Violence project – which will weave one million stars to be installed at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
