    Manurewa.  A place in South Auckland that many who live outside the area will turn their nose upwards to thanks to the media. Yes, even you reading this too may have already conjured up images of crime, violence, liquor stores and unruley youths. Famous or infamous Manurewa is a place that is thriving, vibrant and culturally diverse.

     

    You’re Local is an exhibition by five artists who all have a personal connection with the place, Manurewa.  Get the real story and hear from the locals as they each express  their perspectives and experiences through video, photography and graphic design.

    Sat 21 Nov 1-3pm Free Stencil workshop
    Learn how to make stencils and prints with artist Elisabeth Alani.  Bring along an item of clothing you can revitalise with a neat new print or plain paper you can transform into gift wrap – perfect  for Christmas or upcoming special occasions.
    Learn how to make stencils and prints with artist Elisabeth Alani and Daisy Tavilione.  Bring along an item of clothing i.e t shirts, lavalava, skirt etc that you can revitalise with a neat new print or bring along large plain paper you can transform into gift wrap – perfect  for Christmas or upcoming special occasions.  Some plain paper will be available to print on.  Ink and equipment will be provided. No bookings needed, fun for all ages.
