To celebrate Gasav Ne Fäeag Rotuạm Ta—Rotuma Language Week this year, we are putting a spotlight on an artist who hails from Rotuma and Scotland: Sofia Tekela-Smith.

Sofia Tekela-Smith—a Aotearoa born artist of Rotuman and Scottish descent. Raised on the island of Rotuma, Sofia channels her heritage into stunning jewelry and body adornments crafted from bone, shell, and stone. Sofia's art beautifully bridges tradition and contemporary expression, embodying the spirit of Rotuman culture.
